I am a North Carolina-based artist that creates small-scale abstract glass mosaic pieces. My artistic journey began as a child drawing on my homework and many Saturday and summers were spent taking art classes. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s in Arts Administration, my long journey through exhibition design, museum administration, and art gallery ownership has brought me to a place where I can thoughtfully create. I became intrigued with mosaics after a weekend workshop in 2004 with an artist in Topanga Canyon, CA, and have been working with the medium on and off ever since.
My current work has a very unique quality, as it is created on multi-level surfaces without grout, requiring each piece of glass tile to be hand-cut and precisely placed. The result is pieces that are visually intricate and sculptural, with compositions that offer an unusual combination of texture, layered color, and shine. Earlier mosaic work included the design and installation of glass mosaic tile for interiors, but current work is more intimate and meticulously abstract. I find endless inspiration from the natural world, particularly gems, ocean life and plant forms, and I hope you find joy and happiness when viewing my work!
